The Birthday Game: Caroline
Caroline from Kent turned 64 and described Radio 2 as the soundtrack to her working day.
When asked to rank her presenters, she placed Scott at number one while he was on the telephone.
Caroline wanted an eclectic selection but specifically requested no football songs.
Her first spin was 10cc’s Rubber Bullets, the group’s first number one. She rejected it despite owning the album.
Her second was Evanescence’s Bring Me to Life, number one for four weeks in 2003.
Caroline accepted it immediately and celebrated the emo anthem as a strong birthday choice.
Michael Ball
Michael Ball joined Scott to discuss his Sunday Love Songs programme and upcoming work.
Scott proposed that Michael should present a musical-theatre bangers DJ set at Radio 2 in the Park in Preston.
The imagined set would take famous songs from stage musicals, remix them and build towards large dance-style drops.
Michael embraced the idea and reacted enthusiastically when Scott demonstrated what the set could sound like.
Scott argued that musical theatre already contained the huge choruses, drama and emotional build required for a festival dance set.
Handover
Scott handed over after continuing to lobby for Michael Ball’s musical-bangers appearance in Preston.
