Rachel from Suffolk turned 50.
Her husband was taking her to Rome, a trip they had discussed since she turned 40 but repeatedly postponed because of work, children and other commitments.
Their children were now old enough to stay at home and look after the dogs, although Rachel had written a detailed timetable covering meals, walks and bedtime chews.
Rachel wanted Coldplay, Bruno Mars or 1980s pop including Duran Duran and Bananarama.
Her first spin was the Monkees’ I’m a Believer, written by Neil Diamond. Rachel liked it but chose to continue.
The second was Mika’s Grace Kelly, number one for five weeks in 2007.
Rachel accepted it, remembering Life in Cartoon Motion as a particularly strong album.
Her unused third song was Frankie Goes to Hollywood’s Relax.
Rachel admitted that she was slightly disappointed to miss it but remained happy with Mika and requested the birthday balloon.
