The Traitors triggers a fall alert
Mart from the BBC News social team called after an unusually physical reaction to The Traitors.
During a major moment in Wednesday’s episode, Mart and his husband began cheering and clapping.
Mart’s smartwatch interpreted the movement as a fall and offered to contact the emergency services.
The watch had never detected a fall when Mart had genuinely fallen, but the programme’s high-camp mixture of horses, black clothing, singing and Claudia Winkleman in a veil proved enough to trigger it.
Mart suggested smartwatches needed a third option alongside “I fell” and “I’m fine”: “I’m watching The Traitors.”
The Birthday Game: Julie
Julie from Barnsley turned 64 and was a committed Strictly Come Dancing fan.
She had attended the live television show three times and went to the arena tour every year.
Her husband accidentally bought two sets of tickets for the same tour, meaning Julie would attend on consecutive nights in Manchester and Sheffield.
Julie liked almost everything, naming Tom Jones, James Blunt, Lighthouse Family, Gabrielle, the Script, Rick Astley and Teddy Swims.
Her first spin was Aaliyah’s More Than a Woman. Julie rejected it.
The second was the Pretenders’ Brass in Pocket, number one in 1980.
Julie accepted it.
Scott remembered Jeremy Vine dancing enthusiastically to the Pretenders at Radio 2 in the Park.
The Music Police result
Scott confirmed that Rob’s early-2000s dance-track case had been solved the previous afternoon.
The programme continued gathering clues and listener memories around the result.
Dannii Minogue and Eurovision
Scott revisited a cryptic message Dannii Minogue had posted beside photographs of the Eurovision stage in Malmö.
She had now announced a new song called Thinking About Us.
Scott wondered whether the timing might mean she would represent Australia, provide commentary or appear as part of the interval entertainment, while stressing that it was only speculation.
The Wonder Years
The Friday Wonder Years began in 1989 and moved through successive years with large pop and dance records.
Handover
Scott handed over to Sara Cox after welcoming several listeners who had recently moved across from Radio 1.
