Scott replayed Jeremy Vine taking an icy shower as part of a week of wellness.
He added Gary Davies’s familiar “ooh” noises to the recording, making the already dramatic clip even more alarming.
Several listeners said bosses or colleagues had entered rooms at exactly the wrong moment while it played.
Corporate jargon
Scott asked listeners to submit the phrases they used at work that outsiders would not understand.
He wanted to hear the jargon first, guess the occupation and then discover what the caller actually did.
The topic included expressions such as “deep dive”, “bandwidth”, “synergy”, “low-hanging fruit” and “circle back”.
The Birthday Game: Nick
Nick from Preston turned 53.
His wife was working late at a parents’ evening, so the main celebrations involved pizza on Saturday and an Indian meal on Sunday.
Nick had grown up in Manchester during the 1990s and loved Oasis, the Stone Roses, James, Jamiroquai, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nirvana and dance music.
His first spin was Status Quo’s Down Down, number one in 1975. Nick liked the childhood memories but chose to continue.
The second was Oasis’s All Around the World.
Nick accepted it immediately.
His unused third song would have been Steve “Silk” Hurley’s Jack Your Body.
Nick said the gamble had clearly paid off.
Bananarama premiere Supernova
Fans in Britain and Australia contacted the programme before the first Radio 2 play of Bananarama’s new single Supernova.
Listeners described following Sara Dallin and Keren Woodward for around 40 years and buying front-row seats for their London Palladium shows.
Scott introduced the exclusive premiere after remembering the group’s performance at Radio 2 in the Park.
The Music Police
Scott opened a new case for the force following Rob’s earlier dance-track investigation.
The programme carried the clue forward while listeners began submitting possible answers.
Handover
Scott handed over to Sara Cox after the premiere of Supernova.
