Scott’s singing needs work
Vocal coach Evie Burnett called after hearing Scott’s pantomime solo.
Evie had worked with performers including Sam Smith, Lewis Capaldi and Leona Lewis.
She told Scott that he had been talk-singing rather than properly singing.
The positive news was that he could sing in tune and therefore had something to work with.
Evie agreed to coach him on air and make him accountable for improving.
The Birthday Game: Lou
Lou from Newquay turned 49.
She was training for her first full marathon in Manchester after previously completing the hilly Eden Project half marathon.
Lou was spending time in north Cornwall with her husband and dogs before travelling to Portugal with friends.
Her favourite band was Stereophonics, although she also liked 1990s R&B and a wide range of other music.
Her first spin was Olivia Rodrigo’s Drivers License. Lou liked it but chose to continue.
The second was Enigma’s Sadeness (Part I). She rejected it.
Her compulsory final song was Foreigner’s I Want to Know What Love Is, number one in 1985.
Lou described it as “fine” and accepted it as her birthday song.
Teddy Swims
Teddy Swims joined Scott after the worldwide success of Lose Control.
Scott described him as a big man with a huge voice and noted how quickly many listeners had become devoted fans.
Teddy praised Jessie J as an underrated vocalist, surprising Scott with the choice.
The Southampton chant
Scott attempted to adapt Lose Control into a football chant for Southampton striker Adam Armstrong.
The suggested version celebrated Armstrong scoring “loads and loads” of goals for Southampton FC.
Teddy liked the idea and said he would be thrilled if supporters adopted it, although he acknowledged the vocal run might be difficult for a football crowd.
Handover
Scott handed over to Sara Cox after playing Lose Control and previewing Layton Williams.
