Scott investigates the S Club rumours
Listener Lucy said Scott had been the first person to tell her about reports of a full S Club 7 reunion.
The group had been central to her teenage years, and she later met her husband while dancing to Reach at a wedding.
They also walked down the aisle to the song after getting married.
Scott revealed that he had messaged one of the seven members directly to ask whether the reports were true.
The message had been read but received no reply.
Lucy regarded the silence as suspicious and asked Scott to contact her as soon as he learned more.
Terrible first dates that worked out
Roy Keane inspired the day’s main listener topic after recalling a first date with his future wife.
She refused a drink and a trip to the cinema, then ended the meeting after around 15 minutes. They nevertheless later married.
Rachel met her husband in a nightclub in Hereford while slightly drunk, thought he was called Tom and Scottish, and then discovered he was called John and Welsh. She was sick in the taxi, but they had been together for 22 years.
Martin nearly ran over his future partner Debbie’s son when they first met. They were still together nine years later.
Becky slipped on ice outside her house after her father had specifically warned her date to be careful. The couple had since been together for ten years.
Johnny took Helen to see Titanic when they were 15. She fell asleep during the film, but the relationship survived.
Scott said the stories proved that an unsuccessful first date did not necessarily predict the relationship.
The Birthday Game: Callum
Callum turned 31 and was nominated by his sister Harriet.
The family had previously ruined Harriet’s Birthday Game surprise when their father told her about the call. This time, Harriet phoned Callum shortly beforehand and instructed him to answer his phone, giving the surprise away again.
Callum was interested in candid street photography and was training to drive heavy goods vehicles.
He shared his birthday with Rod Stewart, footballer Mason Mount and boxer George Foreman.
His first spin was Matt Cardle’s version of When We Collide, the 2010 X Factor winner’s single. He rejected it.
The second was Clive Dunn’s Grandad. Scott was disturbed to discover Dunn had been only 51 when he recorded the song and played the much older character.
Callum rejected that as well.
His compulsory third selection was Chaka Demus and Pliers’ Twist and Shout, number one in 1994.
He was happy with the final result.
Eurovision’s handover ceremony
Scott explained that the Eurovision allocation draw and host-city handover would be shown live from St George’s Hall in Liverpool.
Rylan and AJ Odudu would present the programme, with the mayor of Turin formally handing the Eurovision keys to the mayor of Liverpool.
Scott stressed that the ceremony was real and important to dedicated Eurovision followers, even though it sounded like something he had invented.
Handover
OJ Borg followed Scott and joked that the afternoon programme would return at roughly two o’clock the following day.
