Jerry Asiamah caused the morning’s biggest laugh after Charlie Hedges revealed he’d taken his shoes off inside the House of Commons on a night out together Jerry defended himself by blaming “spaceship monster shoes” that left his feet in agony, joking “it’s Jeremiah Asiamah and I’m quite beautiful” as his excuse for getting away with it. A listener called Dawn in Gravesend texted in to scold him, telling him to “exercise some respect” next time and invest in “a sensible pair of shoes,” which Jerry took in good humour.

The pair also had fun winding each other up over lunch plans, with Jerry threatening to play out a recording of Charlie’s “pop-off” from the previous day’s show if anyone sent in gassy food suggestions. Listeners deliberately flooded the show with gas-inducing lunch ideas just to hear it, forcing Jerry to relent and promise to play a shortened version, much to Charlie’s horror.

Voice Note Roulette brought a cheeky message from Connor of Nothing But Thieves, fresh off covering Beyoncé’s Crazy In Love in the Live Lounge, asking the pair for their craziest attempts to impress a date. Jerry admitted putting himself £400 into debt as a teenager for flashy first dates, including one disastrous arcade outing that left him “half rich” and the girl unimpressed. Charlie countered with a sweeter story, revealing she once made a boyfriend a full year’s worth of planned monthly dates, prompting Jerry to call her “every man’s dream.”
The show also played back BBC beabadoobee’s Live Lounge cover of Chasing Cars, which listeners said moved them to tears, with Rachel Chinouriri confirmed as the next day’s Live Lounge guest.
