Chase and Status in the Live Lounge

Charlie and JerryRecap of the show on

Chase & Status were the big draw on Charlie and Jerry’s Wednesday Wins, dropping by the Live Lounge with Debbie for a stripped-back version of their track Gone Too Far and a cover of Turnstile’s Never Enough that left the hosts reeling. “That was an emotional rollercoaster,” Jerry said, after listener Dave from Durham texted to say the duo had taken him “from mellow to ready to take on the world.” In the chat afterwards, the pair revealed they’re still trying to tempt Drake into the studio. “We thought we could get Drake on something. Hasn’t happened yet, but I’m still hopeful,” they told Charlie and Jerry, adding they also have Sabrina Carpenter and Olivia Dean on their wishlist. There was a small apology too, for ruining a backstage photo of their guitarist Will by making him laugh mid-shot.

Elsewhere, the One Second Club produced a genuinely jaw-dropping moment when plumber Josh correctly named a track from just one second of audio, for the second day running. Even Charlie and Jerry seemed stunned, with Josh modestly shrugging it off: “I don’t know if I’m good, I just got it.” He signed off telling listeners to enjoy their Wednesday.

The Wednesday Wins mailbag brought in some proud listener achievements too, from finishing Christmas shopping early to a caller who’d faked a midday meeting just to be free for the Live Lounge. Another listener’s “win” was simply discovering they like coffee after years of avoiding it.
