Stephen Graham discusses fatherhood book with Nick Grimshaw

6 Music BreakfastRecap of the show on

Nick Grimshaw's Tuesday morning show ran from 7am to 10am, with actor Stephen Graham as the main guest after 9am. Graham spoke about his new book Letters to Our Sons, a collection of letters from fathers around the world, including contributions from his own father and brother-in-law. He explained the idea grew from conversations sparked by his Emmy-winning drama Adolescence, saying he wanted the book "to be a representation" of feelings often left unsaid between men. Graham described reading his own letter to his son Alfie in front of an audience in Liverpool, adding that his father "choked up quite a bit" during the event. For his musical choice, Graham picked NWA's Express Yourself, joking it was the only NWA track he could play in the car without swearing in front of his children.

Elsewhere, Grimshaw marked 50 years since Stevie Wonder's Songs in the Key of Life, playing archive interview clips from a 1997 BBC documentary and noting Wonder's forthcoming anniversary tour, which begins in Birmingham on 13 October. New music included tracks from Perfume Genius, Beach House and Mazzy Star, with Grimshaw noting Perfume Genius's newly announced dance project The Lesson, premiering in February, alongside London shows at Union Chapel in late October.

The show's regular Cloudbusting music segment ran across the morning, with listener shout-outs including birthday messages for an 11-year-old listener and her hamster, Humbug. Producer Mark also introduced a new occasional segment, "Mark's favourite Italo Disco song." Lauren Laverne took over presenting duties at 10am.
