Capital Breakfast’s Jordan North, Chris Stark and Sian Welby filled Tuesday’s show with games, a big musical guest and plans for an Oktoberfest-themed Friday.
Singer Becky Hill joined the trio in studio to talk about her new album Rebecca, out 13 November, and her single Changes. She described nearly drowning while filming its video in a lake in Snowdonia, saying her wedding-style skirt wrapped around her legs until a safety kayaker jumped in to help. She also played Pet or Partner with listener Sienna, correctly guessing that “Felix” was her boyfriend rather than a cat.
Realising it’s technically Oktoberfest season, the presenters said they’ll dress in Lederhosen for a special German-themed show on Friday, with games including “German sausage or German footballer” and a Stein-holding challenge, inviting listeners to join in.
Regular features included Rhyme Time, which listeners and producer Jimmy clashed over being too difficult, and What A Way To Make A Living, where caller Kirsten from Cirencester revealed she works as a professional wing walker, performing stunts on top of biplanes.
Chris Stark also raised the “mystery” of stray hair bobbles found around the house, prompting a flood of listener texts, while Sian discussed a reported UK “hunk shortage” after only six men entered the Mr England competition, urging listeners — including tradespeople — to enter.
The show continued to promote its Cash Call competition, offering listeners the chance to win £1.25 million, with entries closing 5pm Friday, and previewed Sonny Jay’s “Clappy Hour” pitch for Global’s Make Some Noise charity day.
