Owain’s new television role
Owain Wyn Evans joined Scott after being announced as a new presenter of Homes Under the Hammer.
Owain and husband Arran had renovated several properties, giving him practical experience alongside his weather and broadcasting work.
He admitted that the earliest renovation attempts had involved trial and error, but said their skills had improved.
Owain expected to appear on screen from around October, wearing a hard hat and steel-toe-cap boots.
Scott kept the secret
Owain had told Scott about the new role before the public announcement.
He thanked Scott for keeping the information private rather than accidentally revealing it on air.
The Homes Under the Hammer game
Scott revived a favourite format based on the programme’s famously literal music choices.
He described a property problem and asked Owain to predict which song producers would play afterwards.
One example concerned planning permission being refused three times.
The actual answer was Rod Stewart’s Ooh La La, illustrating just how unpredictable the apparently obvious music could be.
Listeners immediately asked for the game to become a permanent feature.
The Birthday Game
The Thursday contestant faced three number-one songs from 1 August.
The Music Police
Scott returned to Brian’s mystery tune and asked the force to test its strongest suggestions.
Handover
Scott handed over after Owain promised to challenge the Homes Under the Hammer production team with obscure lyrical references.
