Liverpool marked Taylor Swift’s arrival with an academic conference known as Tay Day.

Researchers and fans discussed her lyrics, cultural influence, business impact and relationship with audiences.

Scott enjoyed the contrast between serious academic language and the excitement surrounding a stadium pop concert.

The city also prepared murals, installations, themed venues and a dedicated area for visiting fans.

Scott compared Liverpool’s preparations with Edinburgh’s tram, pipe band and merchandise operation.

The programme also celebrated stories and clips from Springwatch.

Listeners shared the wildlife they were watching at home, from garden birds and foxes to animals appearing unexpectedly near workplaces.

The day’s Birthday Game provided another listener with three number-one records from 12 June.
