Wendy’s complaint
Wendy called to demand an apology after Scott ruined a surprise she had planned for her husband Paul.
The couple had visited London Zoo the previous year, but the reptile house had been closed for refurbishment.
Wendy secretly arranged another trip and kept the destination hidden from Paul for 11 months.
Scott then read her birthday request several weeks early and mentioned the London Zoo picnic on air.
Paul immediately realised where they were going.
Wendy reminded Scott that Sara Cox had previously handled Paul’s birthday professionally and said Rylan would not have made the same mistake either.
She agreed to forgive Scott only if Paul received a particularly special Birthday Game appearance on 25 April.
The Birthday Game: Claire
Claire from Burton-on-Trent turned 48 and described herself as a major Radio 2 and Gary Davies fan.
She had once booked what she believed was a Gary Davies Sounds of the 80s event, only to discover it was a different 1980s night.
She had also mistakenly expected Alexandra Burke at an event that turned out to involve a Whitney Houston hologram.
Claire spent the morning having her nails done and taking her dog for a hydrotherapy swim before heading to the pub.
She wanted vocal pop from artists such as Whitney Houston, Céline Dion, Westlife or the Backstreet Boys.
Her first spin was Room 5 featuring Oliver Cheatham with Make Luv, number one in 2003. Claire rejected it.
The second was the Walker Brothers’ The Sun Ain’t Gonna Shine Anymore, number one in 1966.
Claire kept it.
Her unused third song was the Bangles’ Eternal Flame, but Claire said hearing it did not destroy her confidence in the choice.

Scott asked what guests noticed first when entering somebody else’s home.
The leading answer was the smell.
