The Spudman aftermath
Scott confirmed that he had survived eating the jacket potato that travelled from Tamworth to London.
Listeners across the country had copied the programme and chosen jacket potatoes for dinner.
Spudman explained that customers now travelled from around the world.
A couple from Indonesia had flown to Gatwick, hired a car and driven straight to Tamworth specifically for his potatoes.
Visitors from the Philippines had also arrived after seeing the videos online.
Scott thanked him for the journey and suspected it would not be their final conversation.
The Birthday Game: Kirstie
Kirstie from Birmingham turned 42.
Her daughter was a personal trainer who made her exercise three times a week.
Kirstie was also training to become a dog groomer and had recently broken dry January for a glass of wine gifted by a pleased customer.
She wanted 1990s dance music, naming acts including Haddaway and Living Joy.
Her first spin was Billy Ocean’s When the Going Gets Tough, the Tough Get Going. Kirstie rejected it.
The second was 2 Unlimited’s No Limit, number one in 1993.
She accepted it immediately.
Her unused final song was the Weeknd’s Blinding Lights.
Kirstie said the 2 Unlimited record belonged in the car with the volume turned up.
Scott learns the triangle
Scott returned to a childhood memory of being assigned the triangle during school music lessons and feeling that everybody laughed at him.
A musician joined the programme to explain that playing it well required timing, control and technique rather than simply hitting the metal.
Scott practised producing a clean note and muting it at the correct moment.
The lesson became a chance to reclaim an instrument he had dismissed since school.
Olly Alexander’s Eurovision song
Olly Alexander released a short preview of the UK’s Eurovision entry.
Scott played the clip twice and reminded listeners that it was impossible to judge a full song from around 20 seconds.
He was already preparing for Malmö and promised to follow every clue before the complete release on 1 March.
Handover
Scott handed over after the triangle lesson and the first preview of the UK’s Eurovision song.
