9 January 2024: Oti Mabuse’s fake chauffeur and Mark’s Rihanna gamble

Scott starts The Traitors

After spending the previous month in pantomime, Scott finally began catching up on The Traitors.

He had watched the first two episodes and part of the third before falling asleep.

Scott noticed the programme’s increasingly theatrical style, including the owl flying in front of the cars and the ominous cover versions used throughout.

He compared Diane’s intimidating presence with Judy Murray before getting to know her on Strictly Come Dancing.

Scott and Bobby also wondered how the Traitors left the group and reached the turret without the Faithful noticing.

The Birthday Game: Mark

Mark from Gloucestershire worked as a taxi driver.

Two years earlier, his boss offered him what appeared to be a dream chauffeur assignment for a celebrity client in London.

Oti Mabuse answered the door and asked him to wear swordfish slippers, fold underwear, take a samba lesson and throw tea bags into a neighbour’s garden.

Mark remained focused on securing the job until Ant and Dec appeared and revealed he had been pranked for I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of My Ear!

Mark turned 57 and liked 1980s music, including Madness and Bad Manners.

His first spin was Phil Collins’ version of You Can’t Hurry Love. Mark rejected it.

The second was John Lennon’s Imagine. Despite its 1981 chart run and Mark’s preferred decade, he gambled again.

His compulsory final song was Rihanna featuring Drake with What’s My Name?

Mark accepted the result and received the birthday balloon.

More Traitors talk

Scott tried to avoid spoilers while discussing the cliffhangers and the programme’s move away from releasing episodes early on iPlayer.

He said the excitement of waiting for 9pm made the show feel like an old-fashioned national television event.

Handover

Scott handed over after promising Jonathan Bailey the following afternoon.
