Christmas begins on Radio 2
Radio 2 switched fully into Christmas mode on 1 December.
Natalie Cassidy joined Scott for the entire programme, complete with festive hats, chocolates and Christmas music.
Natalie had already prepared mincemeat and puddings and had watched her first Christmas film on 1 November.
She described Christmas as the most joyful time of the year.
Sonia’s trumpet
Listeners immediately asked whether Natalie would play a Christmas song on Sonia Fowler’s famous trumpet.
Natalie obliged with a brief version of Silent Night.
Scott accepted that she was probably asked to do it everywhere she went but could not resist joining in.
Mince pies and family traditions
Natalie and Bobby debated shortcrust and flaky-pastry mince pies.
Natalie liked both, while Bobby firmly rejected flaky pastry.
Natalie also described how a planned decorating day had turned into a day of serving her unwell daughter with toast and sandwiches.
Drag Race UK
The winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK joined the programme after the final.
Scott handed the interview to Natalie despite her admitting she had been too busy to follow the whole series.
Natalie accepted the challenge and conducted the conversation live.
A Christmas favourite
Scott played Magnus Carlsson’s Wrap Myself in Paper, a festive song he had first championed in 2008.
Natalie approved of the suggestion that wrapping yourself could count as a Christmas present.
The festive Wonder Years
The Friday Wonder Years became the most Christmassy version of the feature yet, moving through festive songs from successive years.
Handover
Scott and Natalie handed over after officially beginning Christmas on Radio 2.
