Anne Hegerty’s unusual request
Anne Hegerty called to explain how The Chase researchers sometimes built contestant teams around their names.
Previous combinations had included Margot, Ria, Tom and Collins for a drinks-themed team, and Harry, Kane, Chloe and Kelly for football.
The programme wanted to create a Beatles team but could not find a contestant called Ringo.
Anne also wanted somebody called Chegg so the team could include Scott Chegg for a pub-food theme.
Scott agreed to appeal for both names.
The Birthday Game: Hannah
Hannah from East Sussex turned 35.
She enjoyed theatre, music festivals and Bongo’s Bingo, where the prizes could range from a grill to a disco crash helmet.
She also roller-skated with her 15-year-old twin daughters, Holly and Maddie.
Hannah wanted cheesy pop, Whitney Houston, the 1990s or early 2000s.
Her first spin was Barbra Streisand’s Woman in Love. She rejected it.
The second was My Chemical Romance’s Welcome to the Black Parade. Hannah liked it but believed the game could still improve.
Her compulsory final song was Spice Girls’ Spice Up Your Life, number one in 1997.
Hannah was delighted with the result and received the birthday balloon.
Amanda Holden’s email
Scott received an unexpected message from Amanda Holden and prepared to call her later in the programme.
The exchange became another example of the show’s Friday habit of unexpected celebrity contact.
The Wonder Years
The Friday Wonder Years began in 1984 and moved through successive years before OJ Borg’s All Request Friday.
Handover
Scott handed over to OJ Borg after completing the Wonder Years.
