Afternoon people. Considering I was in bed at 4pm I don't think this review is too bad. It's Thursday and this Thursday will go down in history. It's the finale of Laura's Diary.
Gary Neville – He likes a hug on the pitch
Chappers was at the plus10 sports event today with Gary Neville, so was back on the phone. Scott didn't really understand the whole idea, but had a chat with Gary. If there was ever a moment in his radio career that required tumbleweed that would be it. At 6.10 the Radio 1 team were 13th out of 14. They were even disqualified several times. It'll be aired on T4 sometime soon, but the line was so bad we couldn't understand what he was on about.
Flirt Divert
07770 756 408 – the number that even Scott seems to be forgetting! Today the funny name game was being used on a mortgage advice website. It wasn't even funny. Give up fools! The second was a rather scary edited message, who was rather potty. And boy, he wasn't happy, but it involved soap stars and husbands. Another guy was after 'tame squirrels' which were apparently up for sale. And finally, a woman has left her underwear in the pub toilets (don't worry, it's on the notice board… only joking!). It's just Scott and this girl who appears to have left their underwear in a pub toilet.
Laura's Diary
It's the final Laura's Diary for quite a while and possibly ever, because on Monday it's the launch of a new chapter – One Night with Laura. She says she doesn't mind beer guts – that's all shallow, 'it's what's on the inside that matters'. No more fluffy pens! It's the finale!
The final extract was from Thursday the 20th of November 1997. Laura couldn't stop listening to the Counting Crows. She couldn't stop thinking about Ben. He was the only guy who really knew her. She felt like walking into a pub and shouting 'I BLEED TOO!'. She doubted any one would notice (really?). The one person who would understand her is the person why she is falling apart. She is breaking up at university in a little while. Mr X is seeing someone, and Mel and Alan got together. She wants him back. She doesn't want to grow up and get old without someone. At this point Scott felt it was appropriate for a bit of Westlife 'Against All Odds' followed by some more Counting Crows.
Ben and Laura reunite… will it be like Take That?
Surprise Surprise!
Scott then had a surprise for Laura. It was Ben. He's a top manager for a holiday company and is in France. The company was talking about him quite a lot. Scott said he's a bigger soap star than Martin Fowler.
Ben said going out with Laura was interesting. He said when they did get together they had some good times. They both re-enacted the 'I Love You' scene on-air, and he said he wasn't totally aware at the time he was quoting Star Wars. People wanting to enter ONWL they need to be aware she's quite a hand full but she will care for you. There are apparently no downsides for going out with Laura, well according to him. On Monday Scott's taking the show to Southampton for One Night with Laura, and we'll have all the gossip here on our reviews. As for people wanting Ben on the judge panel? I think not!
