Scott said he had seen formal bar queues in Sweden but was surprised to hear the behaviour spreading in Britain.
Famous faces on pub walls
Listener Sarah had spotted a framed portrait of Clare Balding in her Nottingham local.
The picture was displayed because Clare had once visited and broken the pub’s Scalextric record.
The discovery inspired Scott to ask whether other pubs displayed unexpected celebrities and eventually led to the Gary Davies campaign later in the week.
The Birthday Game: Alison
Alison was celebrating in Bath after retiring from an engineering business she had run with her husband.
Retirement had allowed the couple to travel through Vietnam, Japan, the Himalayas and across America.
Her next ambition was to cross the equator.
Alison’s first spin was Freddie Mercury’s Living on My Own, number one in 1993. She liked it but chose to continue.
The second was Typically Tropical’s Barbados, number one in 1975. She rejected it.
Her compulsory final song was Irene Cara’s Flashdance… What a Feeling, number one in 1983.
Alison accepted the upbeat final result.
Cian Ducrot
Cian Ducrot joined Scott after the success of Heaven.
He discussed the surprise performances in which he appeared in shopping centres, railway stations and galleries before a hidden choir joined him.
The public reactions had become a large part of the videos’ appeal because shoppers initially assumed they were witnessing an ordinary performance.
Cian said he loved the scale and emotion a choir added to his songs.
Your lyrics to a different song
Scott challenged Cian to sing lyrics from his own material to the melody and arrangement of another song.
Cian performed them in the style of the candlelight version of DJ Sammy’s Heaven.
Scott was impressed by how quickly he adapted and by the strength of his voice at close range in the studio.
