Scott’s wedding suit finally cost him emotionally
Weeks after Chris’s wedding, Scott still had not returned the hired suit.
Chris had reminded him repeatedly.
The suit continued hanging around Radio 1.
The team first tried hiding a microphone near it in the hope of recording Scott discovering that it had disappeared.
That failed because Scott did not even go into the office to collect it.
So Chris escalated.
Radio 1Xtra presenter Dottie called Scott pretending to be from the suit company.
She told him he was 27 days late and facing a daily 15% charge.
Scott began calculating the possible bill and wrote down a figure above £1,000.
He desperately tried explaining that he worked on the radio and asked whether somebody else could return the suit.
Fake customer-service Dottie remained completely unmoved.
She eventually demanded that Scott personally bring it back within around an hour and recited an absurdly long reference code for him to write down.
When the prank was revealed, Chris’s favourite detail was how quickly Scott had tried:
> “But I’m on radio.”
It had achieved absolutely nothing.
Where Do You Think They Were? found a bridge baby
The birthday game now had a proper name: Where Do You Think They Were?
Jessica had just turned 21.
Her reward would be one of Radio 1’s biggest possible birthday shout-outs.
First, she had to hear her parents Daryl and Hayley reconstruct her conception.
The discussion went back to Christmas 1996.
There had been drinks and a long walk home.
The parents disagreed slightly over which festive night had been involved, but the location became increasingly clear.
Somewhere on the route was a bridge over a dual carriageway.
That, they believed, was where Jessica had been conceived.
Scott immediately declared her a bridge baby.
Jessica then realised she probably drove over the same bridge regularly.
For the show, that created an obvious future ambition: somehow get the bridge renamed in her honour.
Jessica survived the story and finally received the birthday message she had earned.
Jax Jones delivered the Fartage
Jax Jones had spent a week carrying out the assignment most celebrities had wisely rejected.
Every time he farted, he filmed himself.
He brought the footage to Radio 1.
Scott and Chris assembled the clips into the promised fartage.
Jax appeared surprisingly proud of completing the challenge.
What had started as a throwaway idea inspired by a viral security guard had now produced an actual pop-star compilation.
Scott was delighted that one of Britain’s biggest dance producers had committed properly instead of pretending the request had gone missing in his management inbox.
Pass The Pasty was still moving
The travelling Cornish pasty remained part of the wider Radio 1 week, continuing towards Sarah in Aberdeenshire.
By Thursday, however, the show had found something even less likely than a food relay across Britain.
A listener now knew the exact dual-carriageway bridge on which her life had apparently begun.
