Scott had a heavy cold and an unusually high-pressure job the following morning.
He was due to sit in for Richard Arnold on Good Morning Britain and handle the programme’s entertainment news.
Chris immediately identified a problem.
If Scott wanted to be invited back, he needed proper exclusives.
The show therefore appealed directly to celebrities listening to donate small pieces of gossip he could reveal on television.
Amanda Holden actually called
There was initial confusion over messages purporting to come from Amanda Holden.
Then the real Amanda phoned the programme.
She offered Scott some deliberately modest backstage information he could take onto Good Morning Britain, proving that the request for celebrity gossip had somehow become genuine.
Other famous names followed.
Anton Du Beke contributed personal information about his hair treatment.
Jake Wood revealed that he had once auditioned for Wolverine.
Matt Terry offered the perhaps less useful exclusive that he always sat down to use the toilet.
Scott now had showbiz material.
Whether any of it was suitable for breakfast television was another question.
Pink was coming in
The show also announced that Pink would be appearing the following day.
Scott and Chris wanted to find the biggest Pink fan they possibly could, ideally somebody able to answer detailed questions about her career before being given the chance to speak to her.
It meant November ended with the next major guest already lined up for 1 December.
