A magnetic gym reached Instant Dragons’ Den
Another listener brought an invention to Instant Dragons’ Den, with Charli XCX helping to judge the pitch.
The idea was a gym system using magnetic resistance rather than conventional weights, allowing the user to change resistance without filling a room with heavy equipment.
The caller had been thinking about the concept for years and had spoken to personal trainers, although one obvious complication remained: gyms contain an enormous amount of metal.
Chris escaped the five-ball
Scott entered Friday leading Bangers 4–0 and was openly hoping to complete another clean sweep.
This time the caller chose Chris’s T2 track over Scott’s choice, reducing the final score to 4–1 and saving Chris from the trouser-dropping punishment Scott had endured the previous week.
Boss Chicken called Aled
The week’s final danger was Boss Chicken.
Scott and Chris had to call Aled Haydn Jones, one of Radio 1’s senior bosses, while alternating the phrase “you were Rear of the Year”.
Whichever presenter was speaking when Aled answered had to repeat it directly to him.
It landed on Chris.
Aled confirmed that, yes, it had happened, but immediately asked whether they were on air and told Chris he was in a meeting.
The situation became even less comfortable when Scott and Chris realised he was sitting with an even more senior BBC figure.
Their solution was to play a record and hope the conversation would never be mentioned again.
