Meatballs and light bulbs
Chris visits IKEA to buy furnishings for his nearly empty house. Tiredness and an argument mean he leaves with only light bulbs, although he still finds the energy to eat meatballs. Scott reduces the entire shopping trip to “meatballs and bulbs”.
The experience adds to the evidence that Chris is approaching home ownership in the wrong order. He already has a barbecue and dartboard, but the bed, sofa and other “people things” remain for another visit.
Ellie soundtracks Bridget Jones
Ellie Goulding joins the programme for the first Radio 1 play of “Still Falling for You”. She loved the first two Bridget Jones films and was relieved to find the third genuinely funny. The song summarises Bridget’s continuing love for somebody very different from her, a connection that survives everything in their shared history.
Ellie discusses writing for films and being asked to revise an earlier song for The Hunger Games so it reflected the story more closely. Listener reactions to the new single are immediately enthusiastic, with several describing goosebumps and comparing it with “Love Me Like You Do”.
Frankie exposes Mollie’s secret nights out
Mollie King introduces her first solo single, “Back to You”, written during a songwriting camp aboard a stationary yacht in the south of France. Kesha was among the other guests and offered Mollie a tattoo almost as soon as she arrived. Mollie declined and returned with a personal song about repeatedly being drawn back into an old relationship.
Scott has also collected voice messages from Frankie Bridge. The first reveals that Mollie and Rochelle Humes once went to bed early, set alarms for 2am, played loud music in the bathroom and called new boyfriends while pretending to be on a wild night out. The carefully staged calls were designed to make them seem exciting and hard to get, before both went straight back to sleep.
