A bridge on the M3
The campaign to attach Scott’s name to increasingly substantial objects reached Fleet Services. Its management offered him the covered footbridge linking the northbound and southbound buildings across the M3, complete with a permanent sign at the entrance.
Scott initially wondered whether the entire service station might be renamed, but quickly accepted that a bridge was an extraordinary result. It connected north and south, appeared on a route he regularly travelled and came with the possibility of an opening event or even a birthday party at the services.
Chris admitted to bridge envy. What had begun with the meeting room at Dundee University had now produced an official house and a piece of motorway infrastructure in less than a week.
Tom prepares for the NTAs
Tom the seat filler called before the National Television Awards. He still did not know exactly which celebrity chairs he would occupy, how frequently he would move or whether he would be permitted to speak to the people around him.
Scott and Chris gave him a discreet mission for any moment he appeared on television: look towards the camera, wink and rub his ear. It was noticeable enough for listeners to recognise but, they hoped, subtle enough to avoid upsetting the production team.
The day also revisited the discomfort of eye contact during dental and optical appointments, played Real or No Real and held another emphatically supported Bamboleo Wednesday. Scott now had a bridge to celebrate while dancing.
