The latest RAJAR figures show an increase in listeners for Scott Mills and Radio 1 in Quarter 2 of 2013.
When Nick Grimshaw took over the show, from Chris Moyles last September, there was skepticism about if he was up to the job. The latest RAJAR listening figures show that the Breakfast Show host’s listeners have slightly increased to 5.89m from 5.78m. However, audience figures have dropped from 6.93 million from the previous year.
It’s still good news for Radio 1 overall with listening figures going up to 11.2m, a 7% increase from 10.26m for the previous quarter. With Fearne Cotton and Annie Mac away on maternity leave, are listener’s getting used to their replacements? Or is Radio 1 reaching out to their target audience as they hoped? Answers on a postcard.
Scott Mills also celebrated success, announcing on-air (listen above) an extra 500,000 listeners in Q2 2013.
Meanwhile over on 1Xtra, their audience have dropped by 2% to 1.11m from 1.14m. The station still continues to be popular with figures going up 11% from the last quarter, from 1 million.
