Jungle Jonathan brings snakes, spiders and 240 legs
Emily introduced the show with the story of interrupting Basshunter while he was passionately kissing somebody in a Magaluf club. She had run over and wrapped both arms around him before he could react, then happily posed for photographs while the woman he had been kissing walked away. Even more surprisingly, Basshunter recognised Emily when they crossed paths again several weeks later.
The latest collection of missed connections included romance at an all-you-can-eat buffet, a driver eating a banana at traffic lights and somebody being robbed by a heavy-set clown. Scott and Chris were less convinced by the man who had filmed a woman while his girlfriend gave birth, or the admirer prepared to wait 30 to 60 days for somebody he had spotted in a newspaper’s mugshot section.
Scott had accidentally booked his annual weekend away with his flatmate in Kraków just as Euro 2012 began. He wanted quiet drinks and sightseeing, but had rented an apartment five minutes from a square filling with football supporters. Chris, delighted by the mistake, suggested Scott embrace the tournament despite his almost complete lack of interest in football.
Jungle Jonathan arrived for Show and Tell with some of the 300 animals he kept at home. Blindfolded, Chris held Millie, a giant African millipede with roughly 240 legs, before meeting Kate the tailless whip spider and two snakes. Scott endured Sheila, an Australian prickly stick insect, but was allowed to look rather than touch Ruby, a Mexican red-kneed tarantula whose fragility made her the most carefully protected visitor.
The increasingly large animals left Scott and Chris screaming while Jonathan calmly described each one as beautiful and friendly. Gary Lucy later joined Oh, What’s Occurring?, where Stupid Street attempted to identify Alan Carr’s unmistakable voice. Suggestions included will.i.am, David Cameron, Jamie Oliver and John Barrowman, but not one person gave the correct answer.
