Scott and Chris turn Innuendo Bingo into a lunchtime food fight
Becca introduced the show from near Toronto and blamed Radio 1 for ruining her summer. She had been looking forward to a local festival featuring The Wanted, Conor Maynard and Carly Rae Jepsen, but said it no longer seemed impressive after she streamed Hackney Weekend. Her devotion to the programme had also left her using British expressions such as “off of” and “actual”, so Scott completed her education by making her shout “Go on, pigs”.
With Beccy away, Scott and Chris abandoned her health-and-safety objections and played Innuendo Bingo against one another. Scott had brought spare clothes, a towel, deodorant and shower gel, while Chris had expected an ordinary water game and tried to protect himself with a sack. The first clips from BBC Breakfast and Gok Wan produced an enthusiastic soaking before the team began bringing out the food.
Greek yoghurt, tomato soup and tinned spaghetti followed, with clips about Maria Sharapova’s box, “big knobs” and Ashley Cole’s backside causing food to fly across the studio. Scott ended up sitting in soup, Chris’s makeshift sack leaked and both men covered their hair, clothes and shoes. After the final spaghetti clip, Scott immediately demanded a wet wipe while listeners reported attracting concerned looks by watching the spectacle at work.
The programme caught up with Paul, who had been convinced that his friends were secretly arranging a surprise birthday party. He arrived home to an unusually quiet house, found only his mother watching television and still assumed the surprise would happen later at the pub. Instead, just one friend appeared, leaving Paul to concede that the evening had not been particularly good and that he might organise his own celebration next year.
Chris’s finished sporting montage song, “Balls of Disappointment”, became available as a free download. The deliberately overblown track featured messages from Professor Green and Wiley, encouragement to “man up” and a chorus about coming second again. Listeners pushed its Radio 1 love count above Jay-Z’s Hackney performance, while a bonus Dear Scott suggested a postal newsletter from Chris and revealed that S-Dosser’s “Bish Bash Bosch” had somehow been played at a wedding.
