Chris auditions to be Batman
Chris began the year with an unusually ambitious plan: he had spotted an audition for Batman in an arena tour and decided that he ought to go for it. Scott and Beccy were immediately taken by the mismatch between the role and Chris’s experience, which extended to neither acting nor singing.
The prospect of the costume became as important as the audition itself. Chris had to work out how he would look convincing in the suit, while the rest of the programme treated the idea of creating Batman’s muscular chest as a perfectly serious production problem.
It established the week’s running story neatly. Chris was optimistic about his chances, Scott was delighted that he had committed to the idea at all, and listeners were left waiting to find out whether he would become the show’s newest superhero.
