The new line-up trail
The archive contains a comedy trail for Radio 1’s revised daytime schedule.
An announcer began by saying that one man would join a line-up of legends, but colleagues repeatedly interrupted because Fearne Cotton and Greg James also needed to be included.
The wording was continually rewritten from “one man” to “one man and one woman” and then “two men and one woman”.
Possible slogans included sleeping with a presenter, waking up with Moyles, having a cup of tea with Fearne, eating lunch with Greg and going home with Mills.
The trail ended by calling it the “all-new line-up”, then correcting that to “almost the all-new line-up”.
