Alrite Treacle? Yeeees! Scott's back, and so are those awful reviews, ha ha!
Monday Banter
Scott had a lovely holiday, and had missed us. I'm sure you'll agree we missed him too. Anyway, first caller of the day was asking if he had enjoyed Sting this morning. He wanted to know what it was all about, but the caller had such a rubbish phone it was pointless. Yes, it was Chris' rather poor feature – Sting Rings. The second caller had a hands-free kit on, and when asked to explain it, she couldn't explain it. It was third time lucky, where Stu managed to explain what the feature was all about.
Spoony – Batting for the other side…
Chappers was telling Scott about Spoony's rather peculiar revelations from the week before, which included him claiming he could be part of the Riverdance and "I'm batting for Scott's team this week…" or so he claimed.
Rate My Listener
Last week Spoony was pervy enough to e-mail Leila from Devon. Chappers would like to make it clear, he's not that bad. Today's listener is Chris – who's notably wearing a hoody. Chris' profession is a DJ. Scott wanted to know how to dance to Drum 'n' Bass. Apparently you just have to go with the flow. He's single; he was dumped on Friday and had been with her for 10 months. Chris wanted Mr T to ring up his ex so he could get his stuff. His ideal woman would be 'blonde, and big boobed'. He didn't really understand that question, but eventually answered 'Davina McCall' – the opposite of what he'd described before. His ideal man would be 'Brad Pitt'. He then decided to shout-out people, before his time was up. Clearly he mistook Scott's show for some local tin-pot radio station.
Anyway,_you_can_see,_and_rate,_today's_listener_by_clicking_here_and_visiting_the_official_Mills_pages…
Since this feature, a member of management sent an e-mail about how to dance to drum 'n' bass. The information was courtesy of Steve Lamacq. Scott wanted listeners to text him at the start of his show for further details. Ah yes, home of new music and everything…
Record of the Week
This week's Record of The Week is (shockingly) a slow one from Goldie Lookin' Chain entitled R'n'B. I'm warming to it, I'm sure it's another grower.
Laura's Diary
One caller was on the line wanting to know how Laura got on with Jamie. She apparently got hammered at the champagne breakfast, and ended up snogging Jamie. Scott's not sure of the details, but Laura has been off with a bad jaw since. Rather suspicious isn't it! Laura will give you the details when she returns.
He's tipped to win Iraqi Star…
Scott spent a lot of time watching television whilst on holiday in Dubai. He'd come back a bit orange, but like Chappers pointed out, that doesn't mean he's been in the sun. He caught 'Iraq Star' the Iraqi version of Pop Idol, but on a lower budget. Apparently it's worth a watch, so get those huge Satellite dishes pointing over towards Dubai.
Flirt Divert
Flirt Divert UK – 0777 459 875 0
Flirt Divert is back! It's been a good month since we last heard some messages. There's usually a load of fake messages. The first message blatantly came from a 12 year old who hadn't been puberty yet, claiming he'd meet her 'in a pub'. One girl was getting tired of sitting around, and the second wanted to know if they'd join him on the milk-round. The third message didn't make a lot of sense, but it was some guy who sounded a bit tipsy, and was talking about a glove. Finally, a guy who really knows how to charm a girl. Starting with 'hi ya babe' and ending it with 'thanks chick'. If you're one of the few listeners that doesn't have it in your phone, add it today – 0777 459 8750.
If you're not aware, all the DJs will be going back to their hometown next week. Chris is going to Leeds, Scott's going to Southampton and Jo's going to Northampton. Once again he managed to dig himself a hole whilst talking about Jo, but basically wanted some dirt about her from her childhood.
Scott: "We want to know if you've had an experience with Jo"
Chappers: "What?!"
Scott's taking a special guest to the programme – find out whom tomorrow. One guy had a story about Chris Moyles who at school, liked to down a lot of pop and fizzy. Scott managed to get himself in to trouble as after a record Jo was on the phone to Scott threatening to dig up dirt about him. By 5 o'clock he'd wound her up, and cut her off. Welcome back to Radio 1, Scott!
Your choose the music – 81199 by text or 08700 100 100 by phone.
It's that feature that you'll probably know I love (sarcasm there). But the feature tonight wasn't too bad tonight – with tracks including tATu, Bowling for Soup, Madonna, Blur, Will Young and Feeder. There were some more amusing Jo Whiley stories were coming in on the text system – we do love a good Jo Whiley story! As well as that one guy was talking about stage school, Will Young's video, one guy from Swaffham representing the Norfolk massive, and a possible McFly stalker (we're not sure). Tonight's Most Wanted was the Arctic Monkeys.
Spread the word…
Mills on Your Mobile
Chappers was in a pub with someone he'd never met before, and he had a very special ringtone – 'Alrite Treacle'. Yes, now you can get a Mills ringtone. Text 'Mobile' to 81199 if you've got a GPRS compatible phone, and make it your ringtone. It was very confusing for poor Chappers who wasn't sure if it was Scott or just a phone. Lots of people now have this on their mobile phone. You can also have Westwood saying 'Ride with the big dog', although I think Scott's attempt is just as good. You'll need an MP3 player on your phone for this to work. Anyway, as well as this, you can go to the Mills pages and try out 'ToneTag' where you can create ring-tones. Scott and Chappers claim they're not very good at music – Chappers stopped going to piano lessons when he was 15 for having an accident on his teachers' chair, and Scott was thrown out from recorded practise. Find out the results of their ring-tone mixing tomorrow.
Chappers: "Do you do your own personalised answer-phone messages as well?"
Scott had a lot of mail since being away on holiday, but he's got a personalised 'Operation' game. But all they seem to have done was stuck a photograph of Scott on to the fat bloke's head.
Chappers: "You'd have thought after all the plastic surgery you'd be good at this game"
So where do we get one? It can go on my Christmas list – comprising of Laura's Diary, Chappers' DVD and now this.
Finally, we had a call from a girl who was on a motorway ringing up wanting to win the jackpot in the 'mystery voice' competition. Scott played along, claiming there was a tenner in the kitty, but she wasn't quite sure who the voice was behind the 'Alrite Treacle' clip. It means the kitty now stands at £15.
Scott: "Do you think she got the wrong radio station?"
Suggestions on the texts included Jimmy Young, Chico off of X-Factor and Eugene.
So what were my final thoughts? A great show for Scott, on form (as was Chappers) and very entertaining radio. Don't forget to catch tomorrow's show from 4pm, and in the meantime check out our message board…
