  1. I do feel the longer we wait for the news of his replacement, the more likely if it is Zoe or Greg then it would be announced during there current shows. Anyone else i expect a general press release statement. I think it will be next month we find out.

I don't think it will happen, and I don't want it to happen, but I do think that Greg could just be the perfect personality to shake up the middle-classness of Radio 2.

He's very good at reading the room, very capable of adapting to different environments and covering serious topics with sincerity and light-heartedness, but mostly I feel his style of taking the mick out of himself and his listeners could well be a refreshing change to R2 from what I have listened to recently.

Spot on he would be a great fit at 2. But i also love him at Radio 1 and dont want him to go. I have always said that when he leaves Radio 1 Breakfast he would go to 5Live or a TV Channel to do the cricket. But Radio 2 is a big offer if they want him?

This is such a big slot can we rule out Scott being moved to it...Zoe moving to it and Scott put onto breakfast?

There really is any possibility and then sometimes the most unexpected thing happens.

I would love Mills on Breakfast but surely way too soon?

Think I said this in the chat box thingy contraption. But I doubt Jo will move now. She's back in the time slot she started out in the 90s on Radio 1, only this time without Steve Lemaq. The abuse she had when she was paired up with Simon Mayo on drive was disgusting. Even he had to step up and state that it wasn't her fault and she shouldn't of had that thrown at her. Plus she can get away with more post 7pm. Ive heard her play the likes of Wu Tang Clan Gravel Pit not too long ago, can Radio 2 play that before 7? Not sure. I think she likes her musical freedom there as a, specialist show, so why sacrifice that?

She does sound rather at home in the current slot

  5. I have listened to Jo Whiley every evening this week. Firstly it has been lovely to reconnect with an old fave from R1 days. Secondly i throw her name in the hat as my fave/ideal replacement for Ken and would be great to have her back on mid  mornings. I think they will change show time to 10-12 or 10-1 though.

Here's a quote I found online on a daily fail post. Some boomer I have added (not for much longer) posted on there. Word for word.

"It's the BBC in general, trying to make radio all for younger listeners. Thing is they all listen to Spotify anyway and don't listen to radio, plus how many of these younger listeners pay the liscence fee? Very very few I bet"

This is Radio 2 we are talking about. They don't have much interest in pulling in people under 30 really. So those people even just over that mark, that could have kids, mortgages, full time jobs etc. All listen to Spotify and don't pay the liscence fee? Piss off.

I'm 34 years old and have never had Spotify, never bothered. And I cant be arsed to Bluetooth my phone into every vehicle I drive all the time. And paying liscence fees? Behave.

Ive seen too much of these entitled pricks about these days. Simply because they had their best years 30 to 40 years ago, they think they own the world and nobody else should have a turn. The good thing is in another 10 or 20 years we won't have to put up with their bs as they won't be here to voice it frankly.

That sounded like a proper circa 2001 Chris Moyles rant. Like him, I'm a lot more mellow nowdays but these types are really annoying me.

Just had this out with Liz Kershaw on Twitter and i said i dont care how old a presenter is they can be 30 or 70 on Radio and i will give it a listen, im 32 and so passionate about radio and i added that i pay a licence fee also LOL

  7. Vernon is a great shout. I hope we know soon. I did have a twitter chat with Greg where he asked me what i was talking about and i mentioned rumours of him leaving Radio 1 in the new year. He did not answer me and it has played on my mind since. Hopefully he just forgot to respond ?

  8. Massive news not just for Radio 2 but for all of Radio. Well kept secret aswell for nothing to get out especially with the move to Greatest Hits.

Excited to see who gets the show my money is on either Jo or Trevor or they go with a complete reshuffle of shows and times and have Zoe take over with a new Breakfast host.

I also think Gary would be a great replacement or even Vernon?

    ^ That's a good first draft, but what's happened to the Blues/ Jazz/ Folk/ Country Specialists??? ^

Maybe after midnight. Tbh i did not go as in depth as i did the Radio 1 Line Up

Always a fun thread but I almost think it needs to be "ideal line-up after Greg leaves" as few of us would turf Greg off breakfast but in my case I'd love Jordan or Jordan and Katie on breakfast.  I've also worked on the basis that Adele, Rickie and Melvin, Matt and Mollie won't be on the station indefinitely.

I've also made longer shows to keep live programming on-air longer into the evening.

    Monday to Friday

0400 - 0700 Early Breakfast with Arielle Free

0700 - 1000 Breakfast with Jordan and Katie

    1000 - 1300 Emil Franchi

    1300 - 1600 Sam and Danni

1600 - 1900 Jack Saunders on Drive (Chart on Friday until 1800)

1900 - 2200 Combine Future Sounds and Future Artists with Kerri Cosh (Keep Danny Howard at 1800 and Sarah at 2000)

2200 - 0100 Late night show with Jeremiah Asiamah  (Pete Tong Friday).

    0100 - 0300 Specialist Shows

    Weekends

    0700 - 1000 James Cusack

    1000 - 1300 Arille Free

    1300 - 1600 Vick Hope

1600 - 1900 Dance Anthems with Charlie Hedges (Sat) Life Hacks with Vicky Hawkesworth (Sunday)

1900 - 2200 Jeremiah Asiamah (Satuday) New Music of the week with Kerri Cosh (Sunday)

    2100 Documentary type show (Sunday)

    2200 - 0100 Charlie Tee (Saturday)

2200 - 0000 Indie Show with Nels Hylton

Love the idea of Jack on Drive. But why getting rid of Greg?

  11. Just done it for Radio 1 how about 2, which of the current crop including cover presenters would you like to see where in the schedule?

    Mon-Fri

    0400-0630 OJ Borg

    0630-0930 Scott Mills

0930-1200 Ken Bruce ( if retired Jo Whiley)

    1200-1400 Adele Roberts

    1400-1700 Gary Davies

    1700-2000 Sara Cox

2000-2200 Jo Whiley (if no longer in slot Dermot)

    2200-0000 Trevor Nelson

Not sure what to do with rest of line up

Sian Eleri for mid-morning is a bold call ...

... Specialist shows do need a 'stable' position in the schedule (9pm clashes with the R2 specialist shows, for me, though).

Maybe try Jack and Clara together for the 'Evening Sessions'?

A 'hard No' to Rock Show on a Sunday - Fri or Sat is place for that.

Good shout on Rock Show i never know what day that would suit

  13. Was just thinking of ideal schedule with the current crop of presenters

    Mon-Fri

Early Breakfast- Sam&Danni (Fridays future hosts keep the same)

0630-1000 Radio 1 Breakfast with Greg James

    1000-1245 Sian Eleri

    1300-1600 Matt&Mollie

    1600-1900 Going Home with Katie&Jordan

    1600-1900 Chart Show (Fridays) Jack

    1900-2100 Jack Saunders (Mon-Thurs)

    1900-2100 (Fridays) Danny Howard

2100-2200 a different specialist show each night

    2200-0000 Alyx Holcombe

    2200-0000 (Fridays) Sarah Story

    Weekends

    0700-1000 Emil Frenchie

    1000-1300 Vick Hope

    1300-1600 Arielle Free

    1600-1900 Nat O Leary

1900-2200 Dance Anthems with Charlie Hedges (Saturdays)

1900-2200 Rock Show with Nels Hylton (Sundays)

2200-0000 Chillest Show with Vicky Hawkesworth

Thoughts? What would you guys most ideal line up be of the current crop?

Ha flick over just now. Sure they could just have them as audio doubles so when Katie and or Vick are ill or on holiday they could still claim to be on radio. It must be a delight when you find two presenters who just fit together being paired up for first time going on air. @TheSaviourisHere

Tbf to them they have sounded decent. So much better than an Anthems show
