Interesting. I get a weird feeling that it could be his final Newsbeat (as host) but hope that’s not the case!
Also, doesn’t he usually not present Fridays? So it seems like it could be a ‘special’ of some kind

From my POV, I’ve always liked Grimmy on breakfast and as a presenter (but then I’ve been his typical target audience for his reign on breakfast haha). But I think we all know the show has gone downhill since the original breakfast team started to leave in 2015, and it went from a show I had to listen to, to a show which I listened to when I had the chance, which is a shame - its like it became set up for failure with the lack of features and content compared to your typical breakfast show

This is actually so true. I actually end up preferring Alice chatting with a fellow R1 DJ compared to a listener, whereas Dev works better with the listeners. They literally are chalk and cheese, but I like them both!
I do think theres potential in the show. I like the bit at the start of the show where they have a chat about things that have happened on the day (even though Greg already did this). There’s just a feeling they’ve scripted the direction of their links before they go on air, which sometimes doesnt sound right when it comes to double acts, as we’re so used to that natural zoo format approach when there’s more than one on air voice. Scott and Chris can sometimes be the like that but their constant listner interaction makes it sound more subtle. But Dev and Alice still have time to find their feet and these 6 weeks are the perfect opportunity for them to improve!

Just me who thinks so many weeks off for swapping shows is a bit excessive? if its what prepares them for the best possible start to the show then why not but others have only taken 1 or 2 weeks off before they took over...

Which makes sense to start it that week because that's when people go back to school/college! I'm sure I read before that in July/August listener figures drop because of this, so it would be stupid to start a new breakfast show during that period when nobody is awake

I agree, I can’t see why he isn’t first choice because it surely would be more convenient to have him on over Dev and Alice as he only does 1 show a week.
Also, I’ve just realised Jordan has covered every weekday show on the schedule in just this year! Not a lot of DJs have the chance to that!

Its Dev and Alice again that week according to Digiguide, off the top of my head I think they’re doing the week after too, but i might be making that up
EDIT: Dev and Alice are doing WB 6th too, Adele seems to be covering their Sunday show every week until the schedules goes back to normal!

It would appear WB 20th Aug that Scott and Chris are on Breakfast again (although the website still says Grimmy
) and Jordan will be covering their show. Jordan’s also doing weekend breakfast on 19th, with Maya covering his normal show.
