  1. Apologies, apologies- I was criticising Radio 1 more than you! I had expected them to bring people into a BBC studio to record- which now I think about it was pretty stupid, given the time, effort and amount of people they would have had to have devoted to it. What kind of audience does R1 get on Christmas Day? Is it small enough not to warrant a couple of cover DJs to fill in? I know I wouldn't want to work Christmas Day, but it is national station!
  2. It's quite rubbish! There was some kind of supposed workout section- sounded like it was recorded in a cupboard for a start!
  3. I still think of Chappers as Coxy's sidekick even though it was (approximately) forever ago! His grumpiness was always a welcome contrast to general cheeriness on Radio 1!
  4. Granny Boily Egg makes me laugh every time!
  5. Aww- heard the brief tribute on the entertainment news, but missed that. I shall iPlayer the show- not just for that but because Coxy is, of course, brilliant.
  6. Valid points there. The daytime output is WAY too 'safe'- they really need to try something new and bring some variety to the playlist.
  7. I know Coxy, like myself, is a big Blanche (from Coronation Street) fan- will she be allowed to do a tribute on her show and play a few clips following yesterday's sad news, or will it be deemed not 'target' enough?
  8. She's got a point- I don't mind Greg but I don't think he's anything particularly special.
  9. Maybe Fearne will take a shine to Uganda and stay there. Long shot, but I can hope...
  10. Am I a bad person? I don't know why, but that made me laugh! As much as I'd love Coxy to triumphantly take the morning slot, I don't think it'll happen as Fearne's promotion was based solely on her age, and ratings won't matter. Even if it's literally 3 people- as long as they're teenagers, the bosses will be happy! Ooh, there's what should happen in 2010- Granddad Parfitt on the Radio 1 stairlift and out the door! I could see that Mills/Yates swap predicted earlier happening.
  11. I was generalising! And look at the time- I wasn't at my most lucid...! I missed Ride On Time- would've enjoyed that. And I did like Push The Feeling On.
  12. I've been surprised by how much I like Reggie on his own- it really does seem like he was carrying Fearne the whole time. Only question is why she was given the promotion not him (presume they didn't want all male line-up). I thought the last hour tonight was absolute crap though- the most overplayed, commerical, cheesy drivel of the late '90s/early '00s condensed into 60 minutes. It was basically the Radio 1 playlist from 2001 all over again. Not good.
  13. Good god no. Daytime (weekday) Radio 1 really wouldn't be worth listening to- I'd have to put up with silence. Or put on a CD (remember them?). I do hate this self-fulfilling prophecy- if it's said enough maybe it will unfortunately happen. It's a bit like the "Doesn't she like tired" thing on Doctor Who. Would be a very bad move- and anyway, didn't Moyles have a record gain in the last RAJARs? What a bag of old crap- I'm surprised they stopped writing about Diana long enough to print this tosh.
  14. I don't really understand why his new song's on the playlist- it sounds like something from the 1930s. And yet that makes it on when other more relevant songs don't.
  15. If Chris Moyles were to leave, they may as well switch off between 6:30 and 10 because he is pretty much irreplaceable. The only suitable replacement for me would be Coxy- a triumphant return to Breakfast! But that's about as likely as Fearne doing a show not about herself.
  16. I would love a podcast of the show minus the music- would save me skipping through!
  17. That's the way it should be! Oh and it was nice to hear a bit of Lykke Li on R1- I hope Jo's allowed to play more off-playlist stuff.
  18. This is one of the things that annoys me about the Playlist policy- they wouldn't play her before her record company threw a load of money at her, but now they have she's bound to be playlisted soon. Radio 1 should be supporting new music by integrating it into daytime, not jumping on the bandwagon when a label decides to promote an artist/band and then patting themselves on the back when they unsurprisingly become popular.
  19. What's the tea reference on Jo's advert? I quite like Edith's one, though are they trying to suggest her voice is akin to squawking parrots and crashing cymbals?!
  20. Gosh, I actually agree with Granddad Parfitt on something!
  21. I'm more offended she's got a radio show when she has no discernable talent.
  22. I've noticed this on Fridays a few times- it is intensely irritating. If I wanted to hear an inferior version of a song I'd listen to Floorfillers. I can't stand the vast majority of remixes; if I like a song I want to hear the original- the main appeal to me is the music, rather than the lyrics stuck over a different beat. It seems to me Radio 1 thinks most of its audience are into chav music- hence Cobra Starship et al being played at every opportunity. Stop this remix madness!
