Romesh fails Michael Ball’s musical theatre survival test

Romesh Ranganathan had the most fun when Michael Ball popped up on a pre-recorded video to set him a series of "could you survive musical theatre" tasks, including crying on cue and charming Sam Ryder. Romesh failed spectacularly, admitting he once needed a "tear stick" to fake emotion on screen, before Sam declared the charm attempt a flop because Sam was already "cracking up" before Romesh said a word.

Sam Ryder was in good form throughout, telling Romesh how the cast of Jesus Christ Superstar have been joined by a rotating cast of King Herods including Michael Ball, Rob Brydon and Glenn Close, and revealing he believes his own joke pitch to Andrew Lloyd Webber's wife may have spurred Lloyd Webber to cast himself in the role. Sam also admitted he had to call 30 couples who'd booked him as a wedding singer to break the news he could no longer perform because Eurovision had taken over his career: "I had to call 30 different couples, the worst day of my life."

Romesh continued his week of Celebrity Traitors fallout, confessing his team picked the actual traitors as "most faithful" in a scarecrow task and that he only grasped the scale of in-castle drama once he watched the broadcast back. He also confirmed next Saturday's show will feature the Celebrity Traitors finalists live in studio the morning after the final, taking listener questions.

Family Three Tunes saw the Gillespie family from Glasgow go head to head, with 11-year-old Rose winning with Dua Lipa's Levitating, while Pitch Your Passion was narrowly won by Karen, who sews and knits pumpkins, beating Lucy's car boot sale pitch.
