Dreams can come true, look at me babe I’m with you…
Respected newsbeat journalist Georgina Bowman stepped out of bed this morning, and was presented with a pile of cat sick. Her cat’s French, but that’s another story. She didn’t have time to clear it up, she just left it there. Best to treasure the memory, eh? But that wasn’t the gross story of the morning, it was Laura who came out with that. She’d had sexy time with Joel last night. It was in her dreams, but still, it’s a disturbing thought. And it only took the mention of it before Joel’s top was off and he was in the studio. No one needs to be presented with that so early in the morning, or at anytime infact. Scott said he’d also had a dream about a Radio 1 staff member recently – he’d dreamt Dave Pearce had shot him. Not quite on the same level, but nice try.
James was yet to know about her dream about Joel at the time of the show, but it’s nothing something you can easily bring up in a conversation is it. Sitting in the kitchen with your coco pops, bringing up the conversation ‘I shagged a work collague in my dream last night’. Not the best conversation starter in the world is it, not unless you’re Jodie Marsh. Many partners were texting in telling Scott they’re not impressed by these sort of stories, nor are they impressed when they dream about their partner appearing in their dreams with someone else. Perhaps they should learn to trust their partner more, they wouldn’t have that problem.
What’s in Laura’s bucket?
Laura had a new game today. That girl has far too much time on her hands, either that or Scouting For Girls have been sharing games they used to play in the Cub Scouts. Basically it involved a bucket of slightly contaminated water. Sadly no electricity with that, it would have perked things up, but enough water to make Scott miserable.
Laura asked a question to Chopper and Scott, and in that question there will be one answer they musn’t say to avoid having water thrown on them. Scott managed to identify the forbidden word everytime.
Chappers: “Ooh Scott’s got a white t-shirt on… he looks very good… takes me back to Magaluff”
This led to one very miserable Scott Mills, covered in icky green stuff, and freezing cold. Suddenly setting off to work doesn’t sound that bad does it?
Big Announcement Tuesday (or not as it seems)
At 8.15 today it was the big Global Gathering announcement as part of Radio 1’s Six Weeks of Summer. As we knew from yesterday it involved Sara Cox and Dave Pearce. But neither could be arsed to get up to talk about it, with Coxy supposedly slamming the phone down on Laura when she rang her. Dave’s excuse was he was still in Majorca, presumably spending more of us license fee payer’s money. Instead of this announcement that was already out of the bag, Scott asked for your annoucements. They were supposed to feature intriguing announcements including the fact a few listeners were pregnant, didn’t like certain foods, and were quitting jobs. But only one person made it on the air, to tell us their name, before the phone system packed up and went on strike. Either that or the director general has decided no one is allowed to ring Radio 1 either after those competition scandals. Scott then made an apology to Coxy, presumably because it might not have been her fault when she hung up on the team earlier. Either way find out if Sara can be arsed to sit in for Scott from 4pm today.
Mike Hock’s back…
Innuendo Bingo is back on, and it’s been morphed into a new feature, ‘Make Jo Whiley Laugh’. Notably we’ve moved on from ‘Making Germans Laugh’ since the Nazi jokes a few weeks back. So they’ve resorted to someone just as miserable – Jo Whiley! Annie Mac was shouting out more immature names again last night. That girl has issues. Mike Hock was back on, but it’s starting to look more like he could be a genuine person, after getting two shout outs on Radio 1 recently. Scott advises listeners to send in funny American names tonight to see how many she reads out.

Also in today’s show there was more previews on Colin Murray’s black hole – remember it’s gone daily – including amateur performances of the Final Countdown, I Wanna Hold Your Hand, and Smells Like Teen Spirit. Scott had the new James Blunt record to play – entitled 1973 – and I think it sounds alright. Of course we have Jo Whiley to thank for Blunt’s success, so remember to show your love for her next time she’s on. Just text 81199 during 10am and 1pm. Oh, and it seemed Jo didn’t want to take all the credit today, she’s so modest! And finally check out Edith’s show from today as she was interviewing the actual Homer Simpson.
