16 April 2007: Breakfast-show horses, naked sleeping and Make a German Laugh

Morning, it’s week two of the breakfast shows. Now with a handy radio times style timing system so you can work out where the best bits are, and skip any music not to your liking.

It’s a horse of course…

All the team are feeling great this morning. Scott was disappointed about the psychics prediction for the horses, as he thought his prediction was going to be a winner this weekend. Elaine on the text gave some advice to Scott – don’t bet on more than you can afford. Laura on the other hand won £26, and has now decided to put money on the horses this afternoon based on funny names.

onwards – Let it all hang loose!

Scott was wondering last night as he lie naked in bed whether any listeners listening to him today were naked. George was keen to hear from those on 81199 who were prepared to send in their picture messages. From baths, to lying in bed naked, they were all at it. But after 8 o’clock it seemed to go from quite cute sound girls, to horrible sounding men who clearly weren’t getting enough… breakfast.

Drying yourself in style

At the weekend Laura’s boyfriend James had a bath. Amazin’ news, but it’s not just that. He apparently dries himself very oddly. He puts the towel between the legs and just pulls it right up to his bum crack. Do all guys do this, or is it just an old man’s style? The general concensus on the texts is that it’s something from the 80s more than anything, and it’s the guys that wack on the talcon powder that do this sort of thing.

onwards – All you need is love…

And the ‘I Love You’ game made a return today. Scott successfully managed to call up National Rail and get the three worded response, whereas Chopper called a hotel enquiring about Britney Spears, but had no success. The caller seemed more concerned about who was at the door. Scott upped the stakes by calling Westwood from Radio 1 to try and get him to show some love. But it wasn’t to be. First of all he didn’t recognise Scott, and the second time he literally blanked him on the phone.

So many questions, so little answers…

Now you know there’s now an any questions answered service, which will give you any answer you want. Now you can register online and find out what questions you’ve sent to these services. Scott’s sent some random questions, mostly when drunk, including asking who is Scott Mills, how long a catepillar lives for, does Diana Ross have real hair, how is Jo Whiley and what is the nearest tanning salon to Radio 1. I once tried asking the service about suicide, but it wouldn’t give me any tips, what a waste of a pound…

It wasn’t acceptable in the 80s, it’s not in 2007 either…

This week’s Record of the Week is Calvin Harris and his new song – The Girls. But why no mention of ginger girls or English girls? This offended many listeners, especially those who thought it was rubbish. If you’re female and have a pulse you might not be aware he personally responds to messages on myspace. Especially if you’re a good looking girl. So why not tell him personally what you think of his record?

Towel from Israel shows up Scott’s acting

Have you been watching ‘Grease Is The Word’? No me neither, but Scott and Laura have. Towel from Israel was on this week, and she’s possibly their favourite auditionee. They all have to sing, act and dance which is clearly a difficult thing for some of us. But she’s up there with Towel’s acting. She sounded much like someone from Scooby Doo. She thinks she’ll be ending up on the action channel, I reckon she’ll be doing Westwood’s sound effects soon. What a shame there wasn’t any one Irish on the panel to introduce her. Towel, tile, towel, tile… she has a stupid name either way.

Can We Make A German Laugh?

And now it’s time to ‘Make A German Laugh’ on Radio 1. First of all, a joke about rounds in pubs, which the woman on the end of the line did laugh at, and was very pleasant about it – but didn’t think it was a great joke. Chappers on the other hand had a sport related ‘doctor doctor’ joke. The recepient gave off a nervous laugh, but was having none of it. And finally, a canninball joke. Nothing like hearing one of those in the morning when you’re munching in to your food. The girl on the end of the phone took it more as a question rather than a joke. It’s all very confusing to explain, so download our clips from the forum!
