Afternoon treacle… it’s Friday and even more special than that, it’s only bley Hoff day.

Now Scott’s had some big guests on their show, but none have got his friends talking like The Hoff has this week. So what got David interested in coming on Scott’s show? He claims he was driving around in LA whilst listening to Scott, and heard he was talking about the single. He was hoping he’d play the single in full, but that never happened. Probably best for the listening figures.
But what do you call such a legend?
Scott: “Do I call you David or The Hoff?”
The Hoff: “Just call me!”
How specific. The Hoff promised Scott that if he helps get this single to Number 1 in the UK charts then he can have a part in his new project – his musical about himself. He’ll get the role of the ‘DJ from hell’. What a back handed compliment!
The audience was going crazy for The Hoff, including myself who was about to go out swimming in a red bathing suit just to celebrate. Scott decided to read that just as my mother walked in from work, looking slightly worried.
So now some questions from the audience. First up we had Jessica, who wanted to know if he shaes or waxes his hair. According to David he does neither, but cuts it slightly as it’s going grey – at 54 that’s hardly surprising. He says there’s a great game on the internet called Wax_On,_Wax_Hoff which does just what it says on the tin.
Another who sounded slightly tipsy explained to The Hoff that The Automatic have a big shrine to The Hoff at gigs on their tour. He was fascinated by this.
Caller: “Will you take me as a baby birthday present?”
The Hoff: “Probably not…”
Move over Pamela Anderson… The Hoff knows how to get his puppies out…
Some how this led to a discussion of a photograph of him in Cosmopolitan magazine from years ago here he got naked with some dogs. Of the animal kind. As you can see it’s slightly wrong, but it did get us a mention so I’m not complaining.
The third caller was Jeff, who’s a bit of a ladies man, but wants to impress more of the ladies just like The Hoff does. The Hoff suggests greeting the ladies with a rose or a lilly.
The Hoff: “Either that or trap her in a car”
And then Scott brought up something that he didn’t seem too pleased about hearing about again. The time he released a song in America about Pingu. Which he claims was done for the money. I can’t imagine he’d have done it for anything else.
Chappers: “So one time you take Pingu on tour, and now you want to take Scott on tour”
(Studio laughs)
Finally, just before he left, David thanked Scott for letting him on the show, and said he’d like Scott to call him every day when he’s on-air. Which could have been perfect for a return of ‘The Star Phone’.
David: “What’s the time difference between here and over there?”
Scott: “8 hours… so it’d be about 9 o’clock”
David: “Don’t call me…”
David! Show us the radio station you know and love!
As you can see from the picture with Scott and The Hoff that he’s very a tall bloke (roughly 6ft 6 Scott says) and they both look quite a like. The hair, the open shirt, and the facial expression. It’s a good job Chappers wasn’t in there too with his open shirt, or it’d be mistaken for the Hoff fan club’s first meeting. So since the Radio 1 schedule shake-up Scott’s gained a much deserved hour on a Friday. Which means he’s now on until 7pm. But the Wonder Years isn’t going anywhere. Oh no. And tonight’s selection was amazing – the M25 and M63 was a river of wee because of it.
