What a day!!
It’s like warm summer sunshine streaming out of your radio
Firstly, I’d like to thank Abacus for putting on a fantastic buffet. Anyway…
Well, just my luck I’m in Cardiff for a few weeks visiting family and friends… and Scott Mills and the team are there live from Abacus Recruitment! A dream come true!
I headed down to Abacus at 2:30pm (getting lost on the way) and finally saw the fly-over and a little beach outside a shop. Equipped with my large bottle of Blossom Hill white-wine, I entered Abacus and was greeted by Scott, who was delighted with my present. I shook his hand and said I was from Unofficial Mills and got the star treatment! Laura spotted the wine and handed me a red ‘Radio 1 Summer Friday Thing’ t-shirt – fantastic! After sampling the two paddling pools and deck chairs outside, I spoke to Scott about anything and everything. I asked if he visited Unofficial Mills a lot, and he said every day, but doesn’t really like talking about it.
At 3pm, Scott pointed out he’d be rushing around everywhere if he was in the studio in London right now, but was relaxing on the inflatable chair. Then I went on to meet the busy Chappers, Neil and Emlyn – who are incredibly nice in and out of the studio.
Rate Them Happy
When we heard the news that the ‘Rate My Swimwear’ contestant was on her way to the building to have a live photo-shoot…a large ‘Gooooood Moooooornin’ swept the building.
She arrived at around 3:30pm, the super-sexy Paige from Cardiff:
I was expecting Chappers to harass her, but he was quietly peeping out of the window behind a beach ball.
At around 3:45, Laura popped out to the newsagents with Neil to buy a wine corker and a giiiiant water pistol. She chased Chappers, who was on the phone, down the street with it.
Five minutes before the show, Scott called everyone in and around the building – about 30 of us – to come into the office and rehearse for the weekly ‘ItsOnlyBleyFriiiiiiiiday’. My throat still hurts from doing it!
Sitting there watching the show get cobbled together was terrific (and Chappers was actually looking at Paige’s boobs) – Scott is exactly what he’s like on air.
Rate Them Happy
Scott guessed the lovely Paige’s boob size correctly, but was secretly tipped off by a worker shouting in the background. You can go to the Radio 1 website to rate her happy and she is gooooooorgeous!
Her ideal woman is Angelina Joline and is currently off men!
The On Hold Game
Scott cunningly played the ‘On Hold Game’ with Friday’s hosts – Abacus! Scott, Laura and Chappers rang them yesterday after hearing ruuuuuuuuuubbish on-hold music.
Free Ice Creams For All!
Scott challenged all ice-cream vans and shops to give out free ice creams to every person saying ‘Scott Mills sent me’ and it proved successful in the local newsagents by Abacus as a listener managed to get one!
