1 September 2016: Ryan Tedder reveals OneRepublic’s ice-cream snake rider

Bobby Norris embraces Bingo

Live Lounge Month begins with OneRepublic, but first Bobby Norris arrives from The Only Way Is Essex for an enthusiastic round of Innuendo Bingo. Bobby already follows the feature and commits fully, laughing through clips from television and radio while becoming increasingly drenched.

Scott is delighted by Bobby’s openness about how TOWIE is made. Bobby explains that producers regularly call cast members to collect the latest Essex gossip, allowing arguments and revelations to be filmed as they naturally develop rather than every confrontation being planned in advance.

Secret Bake Off returns

Chris revives Secret Bake Off, entering a nearby café and ordering a Daim cookie before reviewing it in the style of Paul Hollywood. He pulls the biscuit apart at the counter, praises its flake and claims that too much alcohol has killed the flavour, while the increasingly confused server tries to return to the waiting customers.

The server finally walks away before Chris can finish. He declares that the café will “live to bake another week” and escapes, admitting that maintaining anybody’s attention was harder than expected. Scott considers it a suitably awkward beginning to the new series.

An ice-cream snake on tour

After OneRepublic’s Live Lounge, Ryan Tedder plays Real or No Real and discusses the increasingly strange requests bands add to tour riders. OneRepublic once asked for a cake carrying an unbroadcastable message, reasoning that the unusual order would amuse the baker, collector and person delivering it.

The alternative request was an “ice-cream snake”. Most venues assumed the band meant an ice-cream cake, but one supplier followed the wording exactly and produced a frozen cake shaped like a snake. Ryan says the result justified the entire experiment, although he loses the game to Scott by 20 points to 10.
