15 April 2016: Michael McIntyre and Little Mix begin the Breakfast takeover

Little Mix get Sean Paul involved

Scott and Chris began their two-week Breakfast cover with Little Mix discussing the new version of “Hair”. The band had added Sean Paul, continuing the tradition of giving a pop single fresh momentum with an international rapper.

They described the relentless routine of touring, where waking in a new place did not always make it obvious what the day contained. The interview was recorded earlier, something Michael McIntyre noticed when he heard it on the radio while simultaneously watching Scott walk past the studio.

Michael’s Big Show

Michael joined live to explain Michael McIntyre’s Big Show and its elaborate surprises. In one stunt, a hairdresser believed she was attending a normal job before finding Michael waiting in a carefully matched wig for an unexpected haircut.

The production did not always preserve his own appearance as carefully. During one programme, Michael’s hair suddenly doubled in size between shots, then appeared shorter again after a cutaway to the audience. He also discussed the difficulty of surprising members of the public without knowing whether they would recognise the clues or behave as the programme hoped.

A real private investigator

James joined Real or No Real and revealed that he worked as a private investigator. Scott and Chris became so interested in covert cameras, tracking devices, bug sweeps and long periods watching from cars that they temporarily forgot to play the game.

When it finally began, James helped judge a study claiming couples first break wind openly between two and six months into a relationship. He treated the question like evidence from one of his files, while Scott admitted his own threshold had probably been much later.

Ali Plumb reviewed the week’s films, and Battle of the Bangers continued on its new Breakfast schedule. The show then looked ahead to Monday’s full Big Weekend announcement.
