17 February 2016: Chris tells a Radio 1 boss he is terrible at his job

Slussy showers

ITV weather presenter Alex Beresford introduced a term that immediately caught the show’s attention. Wintry rain would arrive as a “slussy mix”, and repeated use confirmed that it was not an isolated slip.

Scott and Chris enjoyed the word while trying to decide whether it meant slushy, fussy or something entirely new. It became another small piece of television language for listeners to monitor.

Phone Chicken

The pair created a game with consequences far greater than its rules. They would telephone somebody while repeatedly saying the same dangerous phrase; whoever happened to be speaking when the call was answered had to complete it directly to the recipient.

For the first round they called Joe, a senior Radio 1 boss, and repeated, “You’re a terrible boss.” Joe answered on Chris’s turn, forcing him to deliver the insult before explaining that they were live on air.

Joe calmly asked Chris to visit him after the programme. Listeners immediately treated the meeting as a dismissal and began applying for his job, while Chris continued the final Bamboléo Wednesday of his supposed career.

Taylor Lautner

Taylor Lautner visited to discuss the third series of Cuckoo, in which his character Dale returned looking and behaving rather differently. He shared his favourite British expression, “cheeky”, and explained that the programme’s physical comedy was as enjoyable to make as it appeared.

Taylor then played Real or No Real. The claims included research suggesting that photographing food made a meal less memorable and a Spanish employee who missed work for six years without his bosses noticing. Taylor scored ten points, enough to defeat both Scott and Chris.

Scott avoided mentioning that a former partner had once covered a bedroom wall with Taylor Lautner posters, leaving that particularly awkward connection safely outside the interview.
