Pulled pork appears in Scott’s bed
Scott began the first full week of Breakfast by considering what a burglar would think of his flat. It was untidy after Nick Grimshaw’s birthday party, and the most disturbing evidence was pulled pork in his bed.
Scott had not knowingly eaten pork there and could not explain its arrival. The state of the room would make a surprise appearance on Through the Keyhole impossible, although he admitted he would clean before any television crew arrived and destroy the point of the exercise.
Rizzle Kicks play Normo or Not
Jordan Stephens and Harley Alexander-Sulé became the first contestants in Normo or Not, a game designed to discover whether successful celebrities remained connected to ordinary life.
Scott and Chris asked about buying drinks, paying for everyday items, the contents of their homes and the last time they had completed routine tasks without assistance. The pair could still describe normal shopping, pubs and money convincingly, rather than answering like stars protected from prices and public transport.
The verdict was that Rizzle Kicks remained normos. Their success had changed their lives, but they had not yet reached the stage where carpets, drinks or a trip to a shop required a member of staff.
Chris needs an old-fashioned key
Chris had been unable to enter his girlfriend’s parents’ house after a late night and resorted to throwing stones at an upstairs window. Scott proposed a radical alternative: ask the family for a key.
Chris regarded this as a significant relationship step. A key implied trust, permanence and the possibility that he might enter without waking everybody. He agreed to raise it with the parents, turning a simple piece of metal into the morning’s emotional storyline.
The laundrette receives Scott’s secret letter
The Innuendo Bingo clothes needed washing before Daniel Radcliffe’s visit. Chris took them to the hostile laundrette near Radio 1, unaware that Scott had hidden a note in the bag.
The message tried to repair the relationship with the woman who always appeared furious when asked to provide a service wash. Chris would collect the clothes the following day and look for a reply or a discreet wink.
Fearne Cotton’s birthday celebrations were continuing in Ibiza, and Scott also revived the annual rumour that he was entering Celebrity Big Brother. He insisted that he would be at Breakfast the next morning, a claim Chris treated as exactly what a secret housemate would say.
