Scott returns to Chris’s fishing adventure and sporting disappointment
Scott returned from a week of DJ appearances in Greece with a new enthusiasm for The Hills and a listener who claimed to have been sick near the Mona Lisa as a baby. Fourteen-year-old Tess said her parents had hurried away after the incident, leaving the team to wonder whether the painting’s protective glass had saved it and whether its subject’s expression suggested that this had happened before.
Chris unveiled two new versions of his sporting montage song, Balls of Disappointment. The first accompanied Andy Murray’s defeat in the Wimbledon final, complete with commentary and Murray’s emotional speech. Chris had also used an online translation to record an Italian version after Italy lost the Euro 2012 final, although an Italian-speaking listener said the result was beautiful but almost impossible to understand.
Scott caught up with the spread of “Go on, pigs” during his absence. A group in Corfu had shouted a slightly inaccurate version at him, Sara Cox had led the phrase at a young farmers’ event and listeners claimed it had been heard during the Wimbledon final. Grimmy had offered 1,000 Danny Howard points for getting it onto the broadcast, but Scott wanted evidence before approving the reward.
Chris had filled his week off with a series of new experiences. He found a fishing instructor named Alan online, met him in a Windsor car park at six in the morning and caught about 15 fish before Alan produced a guitar. Chris had also played the longest possible game of FIFA, assembled a three-foot sandwich from three separate subs, ridden in a horse-drawn carriage, taught himself some harmonica and started looking for somewhere to try jousting.
In Oh, What’s Occurring?, a blindfolded Chris had to identify objects being slapped across his face. He mistook a meatball sub for frankfurters, correctly recognised Greek yoghurt from its use in Innuendo Bingo and guessed that a raw egg was feta cheese. The final reveal left him promising an elaborate act of revenge once the blindfold came off.
