David Hasselhoff returns with Piranhas and plans for Edinburgh
Alex introduced the show with two unusual claims: his nostrils were shaped like hearts and he struggled to pronounce the word “pool”. Scott and Chris tested him with increasingly unhelpful combinations involving pools, Hull and Paul before accepting that it was a legitimate party trick. Scott then warned listeners that he could not produce spare Hackney Weekend tickets, however persuasive their stories might be.
David Hasselhoff returned to talk about appearing in Piranha 3DD, laughing at himself in 3D and preparing his new stage show for the Edinburgh Festival. He and Scott remembered hurriedly learning “Guy Love” for the previous year’s cabaret, their unsuccessful ghost hunt and David’s refusal to stay in student accommodation. Suggestions for a new duet ranged from “It’s Raining Men” and “A Whole New World” to Flight of the Conchords.
Show and Tell revisited Tay Zonday, whose extremely low rendition of “Call Me Maybe” gave Scott the idea of arranging a duet with Carly Rae Jepsen in Edinburgh. The team also invited almost any available celebrity to volunteer for Innuendo Bingo. Responses included a former Heartbeat child actor, an unsuccessful One Night with Laura contestant and somebody sitting beside an ex-Apprentice candidate.
The long-awaited delivery of 100 nudie pens then arrived. Chris wanted to post the tip-and-strip pens to celebrities on birthdays and special occasions, hoping to receive formal thank-you letters in return. Deirdre Barlow, Prince William, Tom Cruise and George Michael were among the early suggestions, while Kelly Brook inspected the new stock and recommended reversing the pictures so the figures became naked while somebody was writing.
In Oh, What’s Occurring?, Cheaper Street named favourite and least-favourite body parts. One man admired his arms because “the girls like it”, another selected his wrists and several people independently complained about feet. The programme later returned to the Hoff, who attempted to continue songs by Rihanna, Ben Howard, Flo Rida and Maroon 5 but replaced every missing line with elaborate lyrics of his own.
