Rachel Riley is soaked in Innuendo Bingo
Scott was still covering for Grimmy when Rachel Riley arrived for her first Innuendo Bingo appearance. The Countdown presenter was already a fan of the feature and came prepared to play alongside Chris, although the amount of water involved became clear only once the clips began and both contestants started losing control almost immediately.
The game delivered a relentless sequence of accidental double entendres, from sports “with balls” to a presidential “big stick” and references to “nice firm balls”. Rachel repeatedly sprayed water across the desk, Chris took several direct hits and the studio gradually became a far wetter place than anyone had planned. Rachel’s ability to carry on laughing made her an instant fit for the feature.
For the final round, Scott raised the stakes by offering Rachel milk instead of water. She accepted, despite the obvious risks, and the closing clip left the pair covered once again. Afterwards, Scott worried about the smell the milk would leave behind, but Rachel insisted she had loved the experience and happily agreed that it was one of the best games she had played.
The programme also returned to Eurovision. Scott discussed the odd experience of appearing on a balcony in Baku and being asked questions he could barely hear, while Chris remained convinced that the whole presentation could have been improved by more honest commentary. Their post-contest debrief had become a recurring part of the week.
Loreen, the Swedish winner of Eurovision 2012, joined Scott later in the programme. She spoke about entering the contest on her own terms, meeting the Russian grandmothers and the attention that followed her win with Euphoria. Scott was openly thrilled to have her in the studio, making the day a particularly strong blend of major pop guest, Eurovision aftermath and one of the messiest Innuendo Bingos yet.
