Ace takes on Innuendo Bingo while Beccy is ill
With Beccy still off sick, Scott and Chris began by trying to decide what would genuinely cheer her up. Flowers and grapes were dismissed as predictable, while suggestions including a stripper, a cabaret act and the regurgitating performer Mr Methane made the proposed care package increasingly unsuitable.
The show had been introduced by Catherine, who had an unexpectedly exciting encounter with Brandon from Coach Trip in the school-uniform shop where she worked. He asked where he could get his car washed, offered her a photograph and a cuddle, and briefly became the most famous visitor the shop had ever had.
The day’s centrepiece was Innuendo Bingo. With Beccy absent, Ace from Ace and Vis on Radio 1Xtra joined Chris for his first attempt, arriving confident but with no real idea how quickly water, rude-sounding clips and the bin would take over the studio.
Ace held on through several early clips, then lost control as the game moved between snooker, cookery and television dialogue. Chris was as committed as ever, but Ace’s mixture of determination and surprise made him an immediate success, particularly for listeners watching the webcam while supposedly working or revising.
Elsewhere, the programme heard stories of people operating on autopilot, including a man who posted his bacon sandwich instead of a letter. Chris also tried to sell an imaginary Beccy Raps album with an oddly honest voiceover, proving that even in her absence Beccy’s rapping remained part of the programme.
