The race arrives on television
Scott’s series of Celebrity Race Across the World was finally beginning on BBC One and iPlayer.
He admitted feeling nervous about watching the journey back.
The programme had been filmed long before transmission, leaving Scott and husband Sam unable to discuss much of what had happened.
Racing with Sam
Scott had taken part with his husband Sam.
The experience tested navigation, budgeting, decision-making and their ability to remain calm while travelling without the usual comforts of celebrity life.
Scott reflected on the strangeness of promoting the programme while Sam was due to join him on breakfast.
Jeff Brazier
Fellow contestant Jeff Brazier joined the build-up.
Jeff had raced with his son Freddy and described the series as far more than an ordinary holiday.
The physical journey and pressure had exposed family dynamics and tested every pair differently.
Watching through his fingers
Scott admitted that he expected to watch parts of the first episode through his fingers.
He knew which difficult moments were coming but had no control over how they had been edited or how viewers would react.
Handover
Scott handed over after encouraging listeners to watch the first episode that evening.
