The Birthday Game: Charlie
Charlie from Bristol turned 40 and planned a tattoo appointment, steak dinner and a large roast with friends.
She wanted late-1990s and early-2000s Ibiza dance music.
She strongly disliked 1980s power ballads, hair rock and Queen.
Her first spin was Europe’s The Final Countdown.
Charlie rejected it immediately.
The second was Will Young’s Leave Right Now.
She liked Will but considered the song too slow and gambled again.
Her compulsory final song was Frankie Goes to Hollywood’s The Power of Love, number one in 1984.
Although it came from the decade she had hoped to avoid, Charlie preferred it to the first two choices and accepted the result.
Jake Shears and Scissor Sisters
Jake Shears joined Scott ahead of the Scissor Sisters’ 2025 arena tour.
The dates celebrated 20 years since the group’s number-one debut album.
Jake said he still felt like the same person but had recently watched the Take Your Mama video and thought his younger self needed feeding.
Scott asked him to make sure he ate properly during the anniversary tour.
Festive karaoke
Jake moved to Rylan’s karaoke area and faced backing tracks for Christmas songs without being allowed to see the lyrics.
He did not recognise Santa Baby and improvised a completely new song about Christmas coming soon.
A Justin Bieber track produced another invention involving reindeer stamping on the roof and being fed cookies.
Scott decided the made-up versions were strong enough to become Christmas songs in their own right.
Jake admitted that several famous seasonal tracks had simply never crossed his path.
Handover
Scott handed over after one of the most chaotic festive karaoke sessions the programme had attempted.
