Joe’s Elizabeth I outfit
Joe Lycett had promised to attend the BAFTAs dressed as Elizabeth I if his aunties reached 100,000 Instagram followers.
Radio 2 listeners helped push Margaret and Pauline beyond the target, so Joe arrived in the enormous costume as agreed.
The outfit made the already hot ceremony even more uncomfortable.
Joe said he had knocked over his water and later struggled to reach the toilet.
Ron’s view
Audience member Ron contacted the programme after Joe’s outfit obstructed his view.
Scott brought the two together on the phone.
Joe explained the heat, size and practical problems caused by the costume.
Ron accepted the explanation without hostility and congratulated both Joe and Scott on the evening.
The Birthday Game: David
David from Wigan turned 41 and worked in disabled transport.
He took wheelchair users to day centres and helped an older couple continue attending their weekly bingo session.
David also followed Wigan Athletic and enjoyed live music.
He wanted 1990s indie and hoped for Oasis.
His first spin was Duran Duran’s The Reflex. David rejected it.
The second was Johnny Logan’s Eurovision winner What’s Another Year. Despite it being Johnny’s 70th birthday, David gambled again.
His compulsory final song was Olive’s You’re Not Alone, the remixed 1997 version that became a number one.
David accepted the 1990s dance result as the best of the three.
Eurovision aftermath
Scott also began reviewing the Malmö final and the stories surrounding Nemo’s victory.
Handover
Scott handed over after Joe and Ron made peace over the BAFTAs costume.
