Vernon finishes
Scott opened after Vernon Kay completed his ultra-ultramarathon.
The challenge had taken four days and covered 115 miles from Leicester to Bolton.
Scott described Vernon as an absolute machine and said he was in awe of the physical and emotional effort.
The total had passed £4 million for BBC Children in Need.
The Children in Need takeover
The programme featured music selected by organisations supported by Children in Need.
Scott highlighted groups including Kidney Kids and Let Us Play and reminded listeners how donations funded practical support around the country.
The wider Radio 2 schedule formed part of the takeover before the televised appeal on BBC One and iPlayer.
The Birthday Game: Jo
Jo from Coventry turned 54 and had a family connection with Pudsey.
Her parents, Barry and Brenda, were from Pudsey, while her grandfather George had served as mayor and knew Joanna Ball, the designer of the original Pudsey Bear.
Jo had already booked flights and accommodation for Eurovision in Malmö despite not yet having tickets.
Her first spin was Christina Aguilera’s Dirrty. Jo liked the energy but rejected it.
The second was Queen and David Bowie’s Under Pressure, recorded after the artists met while working in Switzerland.
Jo accepted it immediately.
Her unused third song would have been Ariana Grande’s Thank U, Next.
Jo chose the birthday balloon and promised Scott she would see him in Malmö.
Children in Need night
Scott previewed the evening programme, including David Tennant, Leigh-Anne and a puppet edition of MasterChef featuring Mr Blobby, Tinky Winky, Hacker T. Dog, George, Zippy and Basil Brush.
Handover
Scott handed over after one final appeal for Children in Need donations.
